Maine Adaptive’s Response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 as of March 12, 2020

March 12, 2020

Dear Maine Adaptive Friends, We have been monitoring the ongoing health situation related to Coronavirus/COVID-19. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and community at large here at Maine Adaptive is our top priority.

In our ongoing efforts to protect our community, Maine Adaptive strongly advises anyone in high risk groups based on the CDC’s information (including those with chronic medical conditions) to not attend Maine Adaptive programs until revised guidance is issued. You can learn more about the ongoing health situation at the CDC’s website here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Please consider the following actions to help our Maine Adaptive community at large:

  • Practice everyday health measures such as washing of hands and avoiding close contact;

  • If you are sick, or have any symptoms of a respiratory illness, please stay home;

  • If you are immune compromised, please consider cancelling any lessons you have scheduled; All of us at Maine Adaptive sincerely wish our community the best in health.

We love providing the programs that we do and know you each enjoy all that the great outdoors of Maine has to offer. But, we also have many people counting on us who have underlying health concerns or suppressed immune systems.

As of today, we plan to continue regularly scheduled programming through the winter season, however, staffing and other factors may have us reevaluate what is possible. If you are scheduled to volunteer or participate in an upcoming program lesson and no longer feel able to do so, please let us know (email info@maineadaptive.org).

In an effort to limit close face to face contact we will suspend all planned non-essential activities. As a result, “party week” will be cancelled at all program locations, and the All-Star End of Season Celebration and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be postponed. We plan to reschedule both of these highly anticipated events in the coming months.

The decision to suspend these gatherings was not easy, however, these actions are necessary to ensure that we are doing what we can to prevent the transmission of the virus. We will continue to monitor the situation and follow and update as necessary with new guidelines and information as they evolve from the CDC and the state of Maine.

Thank you for your support.
