Mono-Ski Camps at Saddleback and Sugarloaf Offer Unparalleled Training and Community

RANGELEY & CARRABASSETT VALLEY, ME – Maine Adaptive is excited to host the largest gathering of mono-skiers in Maine with two back-to-back Mono-Ski Camps this March. Skiers of all levels—whether brand-new to the sport or seasoned mono-skiers—are invited to join these immersive training sessions led by highly experienced coaches and adaptive ski instructors, many of whom are mono-skiers themselves.

Saddleback Mono-Ski Camp: March 5-6 – Focus on beginner and advanced mono-skiers looking to develop their skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. Lift tickets and personalized instruction are provided.
Sugarloaf Mono-Ski Camp: March 7-8 – Open to all skill levels, this camp provides focused instruction, lift tickets, and a chance to ride with a strong community of mono-skiers.

Skiers may register for one or both camps, where they’ll receive expert instruction, feedback, and guidance to enhance their skills and confidence on the slopes—all while enjoying a fun and supportive atmosphere. These mono-skiers will experience the camaraderie of skiing alongside others who share similar challenges, building connections both on and off the snow. Limited equipment is available and must be reserved in advance.

What is Mono-Skiing? Mono-skiing is an adaptive skiing discipline in which athletes sit on a specially designed seat mounted on a single wide ski, using handheld outriggers for balance and turns. It is primarily used by individuals with lower-body disabilities who cannot stand while skiing. Similar to a ski boot, the mono-ski seat is custom fit to each individual’s body and this precise fit allows the user to maneuver and control the ski below them.

“Our Mono-Ski Camps provide a dedicated space for skiers with disabilities to learn, practice, and improve alongside a passionate community of fellow mono-skiers,” said Amy Bannon, Managing Director of Advancement at Maine Adaptive. “With mono-ski equipment starting above $5,500 per unit, this camp provides developing sit-skiers the opportunity to use our equipment to hone their skills, grow as athletes, and affordably access what would otherwise be a cost-prohibitive sport.”
