Communications & Partnerships Manager

Job Status:  Part-time; Year-round

Salary Range: $23-$25/hr DOE

Location: Newry, ME

Position Details

The Communications & Partnerships Manager reports to the Co-Executive Director and directly collaborates with the Development Manager to advance Maine Adaptive’s communications, marketing, outreach, and partnership goals. This is a year-round, 75% time position working an average of 30 hours per week.

This position is primarily based at Maine Adaptive’s Mountain Center in Newry. While most work is performed on-site, the role requires occasional off-site work throughout Maine to support partnerships and community engagement activities. Some evening and weekend work is required to support events and outreach initiatives. Occasional travel is also required for events, meetings, and organizational activities. Maine Adaptive reimburses approved travel expenses, including mileage and lodging when applicable.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in communications, marketing, event management, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff, volunteers, participants, donors, and community partners to gather and develop content for organizational publications and communications.
  • Knowledge of and passion for adaptive sports, outdoor recreation, disability inclusion, and community engagement.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing and promoting content across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Meta Business Suite.
  • Demonstrated understanding of brand management, visual storytelling, and basic graphic design principles.
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies.
  • Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, or similar communications platforms is helpful.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with sponsors, donors, community organizations, and corporate partners is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Maine’s outdoor recreation, nonprofit, and business communities is a plus.

Responsibilities

Website
  • Oversee Maine Adaptive’s website with current program information, events, impact stories, news, and organizational updates.
  • Support ongoing website improvements and strategies to increase engagement and visibility.
Social Media & Content Development
  • Coordinate, create, edit, and schedule social media content across organizational platforms.
  • Manage a regular posting schedule through Meta Business Suite and other tools to maintain consistent engagement.
  • Develop a consistent schedule for blog content, participant stories, volunteer features, and organizational updates.
  • Monitor trends, engagement metrics, and opportunities to grow Maine Adaptive’s audience and reach.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and participants to gather compelling content and photos.
Newsletters & Email Communications
  • Coordinate with staff to create content for the monthly Maine Adaptive Memo and targeted email campaigns.
  • Support communications related to fundraising campaigns, events, volunteer recruitment, program registration, and donor stewardship.
  • Assist in producing annual reports and other organizational publications.
Promote Events & Programs
  • With the support of program and advancement staff, develop and implement communications plans for Maine Adaptive programs, fundraising events like the Ski-A-Thon and Beach to Beacon, awareness campaigns, and community initiatives.
  • Promote events through email, social media, website content, media outreach, and partner networks.
  • Support participant recruitment, volunteer engagement, and fundraising goals through strategic communications, collateral design, and administrative support.
  • Schedule and coordinate staff and/or volunteers for tabling and outreach events
Press Releases
  • Develop a press release schedule and write timely press releases for events, program launches, fundraising initiatives, partnerships, and organizational milestones.
  • Coordinate distribution and follow-up with media outlets.
General Advancement Support
  • Support CRM data entry in collaboration with the Development Manager
  • Support fundraising event planning and facilitation
  • Provide occasional administrative support for fundraising events and initiatives

Development Manager

Position Overview:
The Development Manager plays a key role in advancing Maine Adaptive’s mission through donor engagement, communications, stewardship, and event coordination. This position reports to the Co-Executive Director and supports individual giving, grant management, capital fundraising, helps manage donor communications and databases, and takes the lead on logistics and coordination for Maine Adaptive’s signature peer-to-peer fundraising events, including the March Ski-A-Thon and Beach to Beacon Charity Team.

This is a full-time, year-round position primarily based at Maine Adaptive’s Mountain Center in Newry. While most work is performed on-site, the role requires occasional off-site work throughout Maine to support partnerships and community engagement activities. Some evening and weekend work is required to support events and outreach initiatives. Occasional travel is also required for events, meetings, and organizational activities. Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, marketing, event management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, event planning, nonprofit administration, or a related role.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and events simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Experience coordinating fundraising events, peer-to-peer campaigns, or community engagement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems; experience with Neon CRM preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with email marketing platforms, online fundraising tools, and event registration systems is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data, track performance metrics, and generate reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and donor information.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Comfortable representing Maine Adaptive in public settings and engaging with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and community members.
  • Passion for outdoor recreation, inclusion, adaptive sports, and community impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Relations & Development Support

  • Coordinate donor acknowledgment and stewardship efforts, including thank-you letters, impact updates, and milestone touches
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the Maine Adaptive Annual Fund
  • Support the major donor cultivation and moves management strategy
  • Data-entry, oversight, and maintenance of donor records in the CRM (Neon)
  • Track and report on fundraising metrics and donor engagement
  • Work with the Advancement team to research and track donor prospects for all campaigns
  • Support the capital campaign’s administration and solicitation needs

Event Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute key fundraising events and donor gatherings with target fundraising goals
  • Support event committees, volunteers, and sponsors with logistics and communication
  • Lead Ski-A-Thon sponsor outreach and solicitation plans
  • Manage event registration systems, timelines, and vendor relationships
  • Collaborate with program and advancement staff to promote events and campaigns
  • Oversee outreach and tabling logistics and scheduling in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator
  • Evaluate event outcomes and support post-event follow-up with donors and partners

General Communications Support

  • Work with the Communications & Partnerships Manager to tell compelling stories of participant impact
  • Support website oversight and maintenance
  • Represent Maine Adaptive at community events and outreach opportunities as needed
