BETHEL, ME — Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation is thrilled to announce that the independent film Chasing Freedom | A Maine Adaptive Story has been selected for two of Maine’s most prestigious independent film festivals: the 2024 Maine Outdoor Film Festival and the Maine International Film Festival.

Chasing Freedom, a documentary produced by Portland-based Groundswell Media Lab, follows the inspiring journey of Carol, a Maine Adaptive athlete, as she overcomes health challenges to pursue her love of skiing with the aid of an adaptive sit-ski. Born with cerebral palsy, Carol’s story highlights the transformative power of adaptive recreation and the unwavering support she received from Maine Adaptive to achieve her goals. Now streaming online, the film captures Carol’s resilience and showcases how access to adaptive sports has fueled her lifelong passion for skiing, despite the obstacles she has faced.
