As the days grow shorter and the mountains turn white, we’re gearing up for another incredible winter season at Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation! Our volunteers, staff, and students are ready to hit the slopes, share the stoke, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
This winter, Maine Adaptive will again offer adaptive skiing and snowboarding lessons across several locations in Maine, including Sunday River, Sugarloaf, and Pleasant Mountain. Whether you’re a returning athlete eager to sharpen your turns or a first-time skier looking to try something new, our programs are designed to make winter recreation accessible, empowering, and fun for everyone.

Volunteer Opportunities: Our amazing volunteers make it all happen. If you love the outdoors and want to help others experience the joy of winter sports, there’s still time to join our team! Apply to volunteer here.
Training and Orientation: Returning and new volunteers will receive training to ensure everyone feels confident, supported, and ready for the season ahead.
Special Events: Stay tuned for upcoming on-snow events, specialty programs, and community gatherings throughout the season.
Veterans No Boundaries – January 23-26, 2025,Sunday River Ski Resort Since 2007, Maine Adaptive has proudly offered Veterans No Boundaries (VNB) camps every summer and winter, providing transformative recreational experiences for veterans with disabilities and their families. These four-day camps are made possible thanks to the generous support of Move United, Patriot Riders, veterans groups, local businesses, and passionate individuals who are committed to supporting our service men and women.
During camp activities, lodging, accommodations, and meals are provided free of charge.
A $125 refundable deposit is required upon acceptance into the seasonal camp.
In addition to our signature camps, veterans are welcome to participate in any of our year-round winter and summer programs at no cost, thanks to the continued support of local foundations and individual donors.

NEVI Fest (New England Blind and Visually Impaired Ski Festival) – February 9–11, 2025, Sugarloaf
Each February, Maine Adaptive hosts this multi-day specialty camp for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Participants of all ability levels — from beginner to advanced — enjoy adaptive alpine, Nordic, and snowboard lessons led by experienced instructors. Beyond the slopes, NEVI Fest offers a supportive community, fun off-snow activities, and opportunities for family members and friends to learn how to guide visually impaired skiers and riders.
