Summer Programs

Summer Programs

Welcome to summer with Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation! Whether you are looking to paddle scenic waterways, cycle beautiful trails, play a round of golf, or scale new heights on a climbing wall, we are excited to help you get outdoors and active this season.

How to Register for Summer Programs All lessons, adaptive equipment, and trail/water passes are provided 100% free of charge to participants with physical or cognitive disabilities ages 4 and up. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Download the Application: Visit maineadaptive.org/participate to download our Student Application Form.

  2. Submit Your Form: Complete the application and email it as an attachment, or request a paper form by emailing info@maineadaptive.org or calling 207-824-2440.

  3. Access the Portal: Once we enter your application into our system, you will receive an email invitation to set up your online portal account.

  4. Request Your Lessons: Log into your portal account to browse available dates and submit requests for cycling, paddling, golf, hiking, or climbing. Paper lesson request forms can also be requested by phone or email.

Please Note: Summer lesson requests are filled based on volunteer instructor and equipment availability. While submitting a request does not guarantee a slot, our program team works hard to match as many participants as possible!

How It Works

  1. Your First Day: Arrive at your designated venue and check in at the front desk or program tent for your daily pass if needed and check-in.
  2. Equipment & Goal Assessment: Program staff review your functional goals, height, weight, and adaptive equipment requirements (e.g., handcycles, adaptive kayaks, or climbing harnesses).
  3. Check-In & Fitting: On program day, meet your volunteer instruction team at the designated staging area at Sunday River, Sugarloaf, or partner water/trail sites for personalized equipment fitting.
  4. Learn Your Sport: Enjoy custom 1-on-1 or paired coaching tailored to your stamina, goals, and comfort level.
  5. Turn In Your Pass & Gear: Return your pass and gear at the end of your session so our team can prepare equipment for the next participant.

We look forward to seeing you out in the sunshine!
