Winter Programs

Welcome to winter with Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation! Whether you are looking to carve up the slopes, cross-country ski through quiet woods, or scale new heights on an indoor climbing wall, we are excited to help you get outdoors and active this season.

How to Register for Winter Programs

All lessons, adaptive equipment, and lift tickets/passes are provided 100% free of charge to participants with physical or cognitive disabilities ages 4 and up. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Download the Application: Visit maineadaptive.org/participate to download our Student Application Form.

  2. Submit Your Form: Complete the application and email it as an attachment or request a paper form be mailed at  info@maineadaptive.org or by calling 207-824-2440.

  3. Access the Portal: Once we enter your application into our system, you will receive an email invitation to set up your online portal account.

  4. Request Your Lessons: Log into your portal account to browse available dates and submit lesson requests for alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, or climbing. A paper lesson request form can also be requested at info@maineadaptive.org or by calling 207-824-2440.

How It Works

  1. Your First Day: Arrive at Sunday River or Sugarloaf and check in at the front desk for your pass for the day.
  2. Equipment & Goal Assessment: Program staff review your functional goals, height, weight, and adaptive equipment requirements.

  3. Check-In & Fitting: On lesson day, meet your volunteer instruction team at either the Sundance Lodge at Sunday River Ski Resort or the King Pine Room at Sugarloaf Ski Resort for personalized equipment fitting.

  4. Hit the Snow: Enjoy custom 1-on-1 or paired coaching tailored to your stamina, goals, and comfort level.

  5. Turn In Your Pass: Don’t forget to turn in your pass at the end of your day. We reuse them for each ski day.
