NEW INSTRUCTOR ORIENTATION: Learn the basics of how Maine Adaptive works and ways you can help out! This day will feature some tours, indoor learning, and, when possible, sliding on snow!
FUNDAMENTALS: This FUN module is back and more engaging and relevant than ever. You’ll learn the basics of teaching a ski lesson, and will be surprised at how your own skiing improves as a result.
TETHERING covers working as part of a team with a standing or seated student being assisted via the use of tethers. Tethering is useful in a wide variety of lessons and is a very common part of teaching here at Maine Adaptive.
VI/COG is short for “Visually impaired or Cognitive”. This year we’re placing special emphasis on growing our VI guiding skills, so expect most of our time spent on that. This class will give an overview of how to work with and through some of the common types of cognitive impairments our students live with.
EQUIPMENT TRAINING: It takes a village just to get our equipment ready to go for our lessons each day. Susan, our equipment manager, will be here to orient you to processes and the amazing adaptive devices that we use in our lessons.
