NEW INSTRUCTOR ORIENTATION: Learn the basics of how Maine Adaptive works and ways you can help out! This day will feature some tours, indoor learning, and, when possible, sliding on snow!
FUNDAMENTALS: This FUN module is back and more engaging and relevant than ever. You’ll learn the basics of teaching a ski lesson, and will be surprised at how your own skiing improves as a result.
INTRO TO TETHERING specifically walks you through what tethering is and how it works in a variety of applications. We’ll also talk about how to be a part of a team using tethering in a lesson and how, even if you’re not the one with the ropes, you have a vital role to play in facilitating a safe and fun experience!
ADVANCED BI SKI: This class is offered on weekends for experienced bi ski instructors and team members. Expect plenty of time working with (and in!)- Dynamiques.
WOMEN’S ON SNOW: Recommended for women and gender-expansive folks who enjoy working smarter, not harder. While we love our feminist allies and LGBTQ+ advocates, if you aren’t a woman or gender-expansive, don’t come to these events.
SKIING IN ASL: This session specifically focuses on working with deaf and hard of hearing students. You don’t have to be a fluent American Sign Language speaker to attend, but wear gloves, not mittens. You’ll need your fingers for this one.
VI/COG is short for “Visually impaired or Cognitive”. This year we’re placing special emphasis on growing our VI guiding skills, so expect most of our time spent on that. This class will give an overview of how to work with and through some of the common types of cognitive impairments our students live with.
