Sporting camps are a Maine tradition and late August is one of the best times for outdoor recreation and relaxation. Since 2006 Maine Adaptive and our Veterans No Boundaries program has hosted dozens of veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families for a weekend at camp filled with exciting and rewarding adaptive recreation opportunities.
All activities, lodging, accommodations and meals are provided free of charge throughout the four-day event, and participants are free to choose activities based on their own interests and energy levels throughout the weekend. While we can also help with local transportation between program sites and to/from the Portland Jetport and Transportation Center (bus and train), all travel to/from Maine is the responsibility and at the expense of the participant.

Starting location: We will be starting at the parking lot at the end of Eastern Rd, Scarborough Maine 04074
Starting time: arrive at 9:30am for a 10am start on the trail.
What to bring: Lunch, water, bug spray, sus screen, sunglasses
What to expect: We will ride in small groups from the parking lot on the easter rail trail to Thorton Academy. There are a couple marked road crossings. Some sections of the trail are packed dirt while other sections are paved. There are no restrooms at the starting point but are multiple spots for restrooms along the way including a hannaford next to Thorton Academy where we will have lunch. Everyone will bring their own lunch with them to eat by the academy where there is shaded areas. This around a 16 mile total trip ride after we go to the academy and back, but is very little elevation change.
